To mark International Women’s Day, Ciência Viva paid a heartfelt tribute to Portuguese women scientists with the launch of the 5th volume of the book “Women in Science”, an edition that features portraits of 107 female researchers from different generations and fields of knowledge.
Among the distinguished honorees is Professor Paula Ravasco, a medical doctor, nutritionist, faculty member at Católica Medical School, and coordinator of the postgraduate program in Nutrition and Metabolism in Oncology. Her career has been defined by a deep commitment to both science and clinical practice, with significant impact in the field of oncological nutrition research.
“I am a medical doctor and nutritionist — and infinitely better for having chosen to pursue scientific research within my clinical practice. I use Medicine and Nutrition to improve and prolong patients’ lives, challenging disease. Treating people is my life’s mission; conducting and publishing research is what inspires and drives me.
