Intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students):
At the end of the Curricular Unit, students should:
- Know the main research theories in medical education and how to use this knowledge to build research projects in this area.
- Know the main quantitative and qualitative methods in medical education research, and when to use each of these methods, or both.
- Be able to develop research questions in medical education, and to link these with study design, including the use of appropriate research methods.
- Be able to independently plan, design, implement and evaluate research projects in the field of medical education.
- Use main evidence-based research practices in medical education, including the following approaches: i. social-cognitive, ii. behavioral change, iii. participatory practice, iv self-regulated learning, v. instructional design, vi. cognitive load and vii. multimedia learning.

- Quantitative and qualitative methods applied to medical research.
- Dvelopment of research questions in medical education.
- Planning, implementation and evaluation of research in medical education.
- Research Practices in Medical Education (social-cognitive, behavioral change, participatory practice, self-regulated learning, instructional design, cognitive load, multimedia learning).
