This elective CU is a part of the training offer in the 2nd year.
Intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)
This elective block has two main objectives:
- Present students with introductory notions about the specificities and necessary skills to deal with patients in different areas of medicine.
- Provide students with the experience of having their first contact with real-life patients in a supervised hospital environment.
Syllabus
In the first week of the elective block, students will have four introductory one-day modules dedicated to each of the four areas of medicine: Internal Medicine, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Psychiatry and Paediatrics. These modules will comprise of two parts:
- Introductory lecture regarding the specificities of obtaining a clinical history and performing a physical examination in each of the areas of medicine.
- Integration experience where students will interview SPs with complaints specific to each area of medicine, followed by training with anatomical models related to those complaints.
Students will be provided with bibliographic support for each of these introductory modules.
