Mohammadhossein Izadloo, representing Católica Medical School, took home first prize in a prestigious competition organized by AstraZeneca and Nova Medical School. The competition focused on tackling healthcare challenges while also reducing carbon emissions. His winning proposal earned recognition for its innovative approach to sustainable healthcare solutions.

The award includes a nine-month mentorship with AstraZeneca and a 12.000€ grant to support project implementation. Izadloo’s leadership was instrumental in assembling a cross-disciplinary team, which brought together two students from the Faculdade de Medicina Dentária (Viseu) at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a data science student from NOVA IMS, fostering collaboration across specialties to enhance the project’s impact.

The competition was part of the Estoril conferences, held last week, gathering experts and students alike to address critical issues in health and sustainability.
