On this page, you will find the necessary requirements to apply to the Integrated Masters in Medicine and other information regarding the application steps.

 

Conditions for Application

The Application implies the reading of the Regulation for Access and Admission to the Integrated Master’s in Medicine of the Católica Medical School at Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Access Qualifications

- Be the holder of a secondary school qualification or be a final year student;
- Having sat the previous two years, or due tosit this year, the entrance exams - Portuguese National Exams - set for the integrated master's degree that you wish to apply for.

Please note: If you are currently finishing secondary education, you can apply with predicted grades. You will need to fill in the full name of the secondary education institution where you obtained or will obtain your qualification and the average grade achieved (final or predicted).

For the application to be considered, the student must score a minimum of 140 points (0 to 200) in each of the entrance examinations.

Note: The national final exams are valid as entrance examinations in the year it is sat and in the two following years, according to the Deliberation No. 1233/2014 of the Comissão Nacional de Acesso ao Ensino Superior.


 

Prerequisites

  • English Proficiency*

Minimum English level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), attested by one of the following certificates:

a) Cambridge English Exams - Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) - minimum score of 180;

b) International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic - minimum score of 7;

c) Test of English as a Foreign Language, Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT) - a minimum score of 94;

d) Aptis ESOL Advanced - British Council: minimum level C1 of CEFR;

e) Satisfaction test carried out at Católica Languages & Translation: minimum level C1 of CEFR;

f) Applicants who provide proof that they have English as their first language or have attended secondary school exclusively in English.

*Note: You should pay attention to the recommendations for the validity of the exams.

  • Group A - Interpersonal Communication

This prerequisite aims to prove the applicants' interpersonal communication skills.

The medical declaration, attained by completing the form in the following regulation, shall prove the absence of any mental, sensory or motor deficiency that seriously interferes with the functional capacity and interpersonal communication to the point of impairing the applicant's own learning or that of others.

The respective result, expressed as Apt or Not Apt, does not influence the calculation of the application score.

 

- Of Ranking

  • Motivation Letter / Portfolio

After completing the 1st step of the application (the online application data), all applicants must duly fill in all the mandatory fields of the Portfolio online.

The portfolio consists of a set of questions related to the following themes: Reasons for choosing FM-UCP; Knowledge about PBL (Problem-based Learning) methodology; Voluntary work; Importance of volunteer work.

  • Mini-Interviews

After the 2nd step of the application (the online portfolio), all applicants will participate in mandatory face-to-face mini-interviews of equal duration in English at the Católica Medical School.

These mini-interviews aim to assess whether the applicants have the essential skills required for a medical student and a future doctor.


 

Required Documentation for the Application

If the applicant is no longer in secondary education, the following documentation is required:

  • Photograph (passport type);
  • Identification Document - Citizen Card;
  • Qualification Certificate (Final or Provisional);
  • National Examination Certificate (Final or Provisional) - ENES file (Exames Nacionais do Ensino Secundário) compulsorily issued in the year of application (please ask at the secondary education establishment);
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency (Final or Provisional);
  • Special Quotas Declaration - Applicants who wish to apply for these vacancies should do so when applying, attaching the supporting documentation of the respective conditions.

If the applicant is finishing secondary school, he/she must submit provisional documents, i.e. the grades obtained so far, as well as an estimate of the final grades.

In the 4th step of the application (submission of final documents), there will be the possibility to insert the final grades and documents.

The ENES sheet is obtained from the secondary education establishment, where the student has taken the last tests, and must be submitted in the online application, according to the application calendar.

There are 45 vacancies for the General Competition, for the 2024/25 academic year, of wich 2 are for the Special Quota: High performance athletes.

 

Application Fee

The application fee for the Integrated Master in Medicine will be €400.00. This amount is not refundable.
