Católica Medical School invites you to participate in the seminar on “Connecting research and science with policy: a personal experience from an evolving academic", which will take place on November 14th 2024 at 12:30 pm at Católica Medical School Multicare auditorium.

Keynote speaker: Luís Lacerda, PhD

Luís Miguel Lacerda is currently a policy adviser in UCL Engineering’s Policy Impact Unit, where he contributes to increase the use of UCL research produced in the policymaking process, by collaborating with researchers and policy professionals to design bespoke policy engagement strategies that have real impact. Luís has a strong academic background including experience as a Research Associate in Pediatric Clinical Neuroimaging at University College London and a PhD in Neuroimaging from King’s College London. He shares an interest and experience in new educational methodologies in both science and medicine, having coordinated one of the modules at the first year of Católica Medical School. Between 2017 and 2019 he led the Portuguese Association of Researchers and Students in the UK (PARSUK) to create the first Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) in a Portuguese Embassy. He has since served as the SAB honorary secretary and helped shape its activities by contributing with practical experience gained via the organisation of multiple knowledge exchange events on science diplomacy. Finally, he has also co-founded initiatives directed at mobilising civil society to take a more active role in shaping policy (see Próxima Geração, Ciência em Sociedade).
