Practical Component - 30 hours

The practical component is specific for each group of professionals. Although students from one group may assist practical specific sessions of another group (optional).

As a common part for all groups the following topics will be addressed:

  • Sleep Lab: organizational structure of a sleep lab, sleep equipment, system calibration;
  • Adult polysomnography analysis: sleep staging, analysis of respiratory and movement events;
  • Pediatric polysomnography analysis: sleep staging, analysis of respiratory and movement events;
  • Non-invasive ventilation (NIV): adaptation of NIV in patients with sleep related respiratory perturbances;
  • Sleep in Clinical Practice I;
  • Meet the Expert in Sleep Lab.

According to the specific context:

Medical Group and other professionals

  • Multiple sleep latency test and vigilance maintenance test: clinical cases;
  • Actigraphy: analysis and clinical cases;
  • Interpretation of sleep tests level I/II and III and biological fluids.

Technicians Group

  • Multiple sleep latency test and vigilance maintenance test: clinical cases;

Medical Dentists Group

  • Dental Sleep Medicine: Myofunctional Therapy and Myofunctional devices Occlusal registration bite with George Gauge and Intra-oral impressions (silicone or scanner), Delivery and MAD adjustments.
