Intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students):
This CU is developed throughout the year 6, and its main aim is to promote the practice of Medicine in different clinical contexts in an independent, but supervised way.
The student will define and follow his own intern ship plan in which he will have contact with the different areas of health care. It will aim to understand, develop and deepen clinical thinking skills. It is also intended to acquire experience that facilitates the choice of specialty.
The internship mentor is officially appointed by th e Scientific Council of the FM of the UCP, proposed by the student and according to the internship plan presented.
Mentors should belong to the FM of the UCP and have the academic degree of Master or Doctor with proven clinical experience. Specialists in the clinical field who do not belong to FM of the UCP may also be appointed as mentors as long as they are recognized as such by the Scientific Council.
Syllabus:
All students will be integrated into a clinical unit (eg, hospital unit, health center) where they will play the role of assistant physicians undergoing clinical activity. Thus, each student will be responsible for a limited number of patients and should be able to communicate with patients and their families and suggest possible diagnoses and treatments under close supervision of the supervising doctors.
