Intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students):

At the end of the Curricular Unit, students should:
  • Know the main theories on which simulation-based learning is based.
  • Know the main methods used in medical simulation and when and how to use each of these methods.
  • Be able to independently plan, implement and evaluate simulation-based education projects.
  • Be able to draw up research questions in medical simulation and link these to the design of studies, including the use of appropriate
  • research methods.
  • The objectives are compatible with participatory teaching methods, experiential learning in small groups and practical work in a medical
  • education and simulation environmen

  • Theories of Simulation-Based Medical Education
  • Methods of intervention in medical simulation.
  • Contexts for implementing medical simulation.
  • Development of research questions in simulation-based education.
  • Simulation models and scenario design.
  • Fundamentals of Crisis Resource Management (CRM) and the ABCDE Approach.
  • Basic debriefing techniques.
  • Hands-on simulation training.
  • Development and implementation of a Simulation-Based Medical Education programme
