Intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students): 

The CU will have a laboratory integration in a multidisciplinary approach and aims to inform the students of all comprehensive laboratory screening and diagnostic tests, in order to guarantee the fetal well-being and the good pregnancy progression. In the field of knowledge, the different stages of screening and prenatal diagnosis, including the 1st Trimester combined screening of the (for T21, T18 and T13 screening), Pre-Eclampsia screening, Preterm Delivery and growth retardation screening as well as neural tube defects (NTD) screening. Screening for chromosomal abnormalities by free circulating fetal DNA (cffDNA). In the field of skills, the student should be able to choose the different techniques according to their sensitivities and specificities and according to the clinical-obstetric history presented. 

Syllabus: 

The program contents are divided into essential knowledge in prenatal diagnosis (definition, pathologies, factors and risk, pathophysiology); laboratory procedures for screening and prenatal diagnosis (TRACE, qfPCR, cytogenetics, arrayCGH); use of software with risk algorithms; collection of clinical history and integration of laboratory results and discussion of actual clinical cases.
