Applications are now open for "CARE Beyond Academia", the 5th edition of CATólica REsearch, the annual meeting that brings together the 15 Research Units of Católica (Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Viseu), and which this year takes place at Católica Medical School, in Sintra, on September 15.
This meeting invites participants to delve deeper into topics such as social innovation, community engagement, scientific employment, sustainable development and the role of research in shaping policy and practice beyond the academic sphere.
For the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of UCP, Peter Hanenberg, "CARE meetings highlight the dynamism that exists in Católica's research", highlighting the meeting as "a path for the common good".
By establishing links between different domains of knowledge and fostering dialog between academia and society (in its political, business, cultural, entrepreneurial, etc. aspects), UCP seeks to create meaningful and impactful collaborations that can generate positive change in (and for) the everyday world.
This year's CARE Meeting aims to function as a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing best practices and developing innovative solutions, seeking to contribute to a more inclusive, sustainable and interconnected future.
By presenting and discussing different notions of what going beyond academia can mean and entail, UCP seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and its practical applications by fostering collaborations and synergies with various actors within and outside the traditional academic realm.
This approach recognizes the value of diverse experiences and expertise, understanding that addressing complex societal challenges requires a multidimensional approach that extends beyond the boundaries of academia.
The "CARE Beyond Academia" edition of this annual gathering aims to explore the intersections between academia and the rest of the world, recognizing the potential for transformative change that occurs when researchers and practitioners from various fields come together.
