High School Science Visit

Thursday, May 9, 2024 - 12:18

Yesterday, our school opened doors to Escola Rainha D. Leonor de Lencastre students, part of the D. João II schools' group in S. Marcos, Sintra. We welcomed enthusiastic students from the 10th and 11th grades to our campus for an immersive experience in the world of medical science.

*From Micro to Macro:*

The 10th-grade students embarked on an exciting journey through the intricacies of human anatomy in our Anatomy lab. They delved deep into the structure and function of various organs. Guided by curiosity with the aid of our experienced students, they gained invaluable insights into the complexity and beauty of the human body.

*Introduction to PCR:*

Meanwhile, the 11th-grade students ventured into the realm of molecular biology in our Research lab. Here, they received a comprehensive introduction to the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique, a cornerstone of modern genetic research. Under the guidance of our skilled researchers, they had the unique opportunity to conduct their own PCR experiment, unraveling DNA amplification firsthand.

*Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration*

The culmination of this enriching experience was an enriching session at one of our auditoriums, where both classes came together to share their newfound knowledge and insights. Through engaging presentations, they showcased the discoveries they made and the skills they honed during their time at Católica Medical School. This collaborative exchange fostered a camaraderie spirit and inspired a passion for learning and discovery.

CatólicaMedSU and Católica Medical School are committed to nurturing the next generation of medical professionals and scientists. Through initiatives like these, we strive to ignite curiosity, promote excellence, and cultivate a culture of innovation among aspiring young minds.
