Intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students):
The general objective of this CU is to create interest in the medical community for the various aspects that involve deafness and the deaf community in Portugal and the world. We will study the neurobiological aspects of the deaf brain, as well as cultural and linguistic aspects.
With regard to the Portuguese Sign Language, students will be required to master basic vocabulary and vocabulary related to the health area. The specific objectives of this CU are:
- Know the specific aspects related to the various perspectives of deafness;
- Getting manipulate practical knowledge in order to be able to basic communication in LGP.
