Does the ketogenic diet "starve" cancer cells? Is it safe?

The ketogenic diet is being promoted on social media as a way to “improve healthy cellular respiration and starve cancer cells .”

This diet is characterized by a strong restriction of foods rich in carbohydrates , such as rice, pasta, potatoes and beans. In addition, it is rich in fats and moderate in protein.

In several articles and online publications, it is stated that this diet reduces glucose levels, that is, the “blood sugar” that tumor cells feed on. Therefore, followers of this diet argue, this will cause these cells to “starve to death”.

But is that really the case? Is the ketogenic diet effective in fighting cancer ? Does following this diet “starve cancer cells”?
