Isaura Martins wins Pain Research Grant with project on spinal cord injuries

" Studying CD9 as a new therapeutic strategy for neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury," authored by Isaura Martins, from the Católica Medical School, is the winning project of the Pain Research Grant, sponsored by the Grünenthal Foundation in partnership with the Portuguese Association for the Study of Pain (APED). The research focuses on the CD9 protein, which appears to play a critical role in how the body responds to spinal cord injury. The goal will be to understand how CD9 contributes to nerve inflammation and pain and thus identify new therapeutic strategies that can help individuals with spinal cord injuries reduce chronic pain.
