Even accepting the irreversibility of nature, it is possible to strive for healthier aging. But there is still a long way to go; in many areas, almost everything remains to be done.

Autumn is considered the season of nostalgia: it evokes more twilight than sunrise, the red light of the west prevails over the blue of the dawn; it is the time of the evanescence of days, the approach of rain, of grays and browns, of the creeping cold. Despite the rustic vivacity evoked by Vivaldi, it is above all the melancholy of the song "Autumn Leaves"—which evokes sweet memories, though only memories—that imposes itself as a soundtrack, should we imagine a film about Autumn. This season, which precedes the rigors of Winter, is also a metaphor for aging, often interpreted as a sign of finitude or decay. The title of the original French version, "Les feuilles mortes" (The Dead Leaves), precisely accentuates this wintry tone.
