The new Católica Medical School, ofUniversidade Católica Portuguesa, will start its teaching activities in September 2021.
The School’s vision is to drive Values-driven Medical Innovation – offering a transformative learning system for 21st century medicine anchored in global service.
To launch the School – and in the context of the critical issues and opportunities facing society as the world emerges from a devastating pandemic – Católica will host a major conference on Values & Technology in Medical Innovation on 20 May 2021.
The conference’s opening speaker will be the Chairman of GAVI and former President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso. Three one-hour panels will then cover:
- Access to Medicines
- How are the Digital Age and Technology Influencing Medicine
- How can public/private partnerships meet the growing healthcare challenge
Other speakers will include senior officials from the European Commission, the European Medicines Agency and the World Health Organization; CEOs and leaders of international pharmaceutical and technology companies and hospital groups; leading academics and Medical School Deans.
The Conference will take place in a hybrid online and in-person format (the latter on the premises of Universidade Católica Portuguesa) on the afternoon of May 20.
