Lisbon, January 31, 2026 (Ecclesia) – Católica Medical School (UCP) aims to train professionals who can combat the current climate of discouragement in healthcare, prioritizing human closeness to patients, the institution's dean argued in an interview with the Agência ECCLESIA.
"Our intention in establishing this faculty went far beyond providing traditional medical education; it was about training professionals who are enthusiastic about medicine," stated Professor António Medina de Almeida.
According to the dean, one of the current "great dramas" in the world of healthcare is the "lack of enthusiasm that many doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals feel towards their professional practice."
To counteract this trend, Medina de Almeida argues that it is essential to instill "a passion for medicine from an early age."
