Daniela Cunha, Assistant Professor at the Católica Medical School has written an opinion article for CNN Portugal highlighting the importance of taking care of the skin during this time of the year.

“Globally, the number of new skin cancer cases continues to rise. Although most beachgoers are aware of and can articulate the precautions they should take in the sun, many do not adopt behaviours that reflect this knowledge. The tension between understanding the risks and the desire to achieve a tanned appearance often leads people to prioritise tanning. But let there be no misunderstanding: no tan is healthy. A tan is always the skin’s biological response to damage and carries an inherent risk of skin cancer.”
