Researchers from CatólicaMed platform – CIIS awarded a scholarship/prize on the 19th APNEP-Fresenius Kabi Clinical Nutrition Award

12th November 2021 - David Dias, MD and Paula Ravasco, MD, RD, PhD from CatólicaMed platform – CIIS, were awarded a scholarship/prize under the 19th APNEP-Fresenius Kabi Clinical Nutrition Award, with the project “Impact of body composition on prognosis, toxicity and personalised treatment dosage in locally advanced gastric cancer”.

This award was integrated in the 3rd MALNUTRITION AWARENESS WEEK, a pioneer initiative of the ONCA international campaign, this year being a joint venture of APNEP/ONCA/ENHA. This recognition does reflect not only the quality of medical research in nutrition, but also the need for integrating medical nutrition throughout the whole continuum of cancer treatments, in order to offer the desired State of the Art Cancer Therapy for all patients to improve survival and reduce morbidity.

Professor Paula Ravasco presents at Portuguese Oncology Society course

The Prevention Group of the Portuguese Society of Oncology organized the Course of Nutrition in the Oncology Patient, aimed at all health professionals. The course is divided into four modules that take place on October 19th and 26th, November 4th and 11th, 2021, in online format.

Professor Paula Ravasco, a Medical Doctor specialized in Immunohemotherapy and a Nutritionist specialized in Clinical Nutrition, is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Portugal and Principal Investigator at the CatólicaMed platform of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health. She is also Director of the International Program for Health Advanced Training in Nutrition and Metabolism in Oncology at UCP.

Professor Paula Ravasco will present the fundamental role of medical nutrition in oncology in the Course of Nutrition in the Oncology Patient.

First CatólicaMed Meeting

First meeting of the CatólicaMed Platform of the CIIS, with the purpose of introducing the platform researchers and plan scientific activities.
