The session will focus on the topic: “The Beginning of Life – Law and Ethics: Implications for Medical Practice”
This lecture is part of the course curriculum and aims to provide students and the academic community with a legally grounded and ethically critical analysis of issues related to the beginning of human life, with particular attention to their implications for clinical decision-making, professional responsibility, and the regulatory framework of medical practice.
The legal framework under analysis includes, namely:
Law no. 16/2007 – Legal framework of voluntary termination of pregnancy;
Law no. 32/2006, of July 26 – Medically Assisted Reproduction, amended by Laws no. 59/2007, of September 4, and no. 17/2016, of June 20.
The session will promote an informed and plural reflection on some of the most challenging issues in contemporary medicine, where Law, Ethics and clinical practice intersect and require from physicians a prudent, responsible, and well-grounded deliberation.
