Faculty mobility is one of the essential activities in inter-university cooperation, which aims to contribute to the promotion of the European dimension and the quality of Higher Education.
The Erasmus+ Program allows the mobility of teaching staff between European higher education institutions, to carry out teaching missions (a period of teaching), thus contributing to the internationalization of higher education institutions.
OBJECTIVES
- Provide Faculty with an opportunity for personal and professional development;
- Strengthen ties between Higher Education Institutions from different countries;
- Preparation of future academic cooperation projects;
SCOPE
It allows staff to carry out a short-term teaching mission, at a UCP partner University, located in one of the countries participating in the Program (EU Member States, Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey), within the scope of an Erasmus+ interinstitutional agreement and in the area of study in question.
The mission includes the possibility of teaching curricular units integrated into official study cycles at the host institution.
Mobility must last for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 5 days of teaching activities (minimum 8 mandatory teaching hours).
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Be linked to CMS through an employment contract, for the purposes of teaching activity and in force in the academic year in which the mobility is carried out;
- Teaching missions must take place at a university holding an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education with which UCP has previously signed an Erasmus+ interinstitutional agreement.

MOBILITY GRANT
The amount of the grant is defined annually by the National Erasmus+ Education and Training Agency.
The amount to be considered varies depending on the country of destination, the duration of the mobility and includes:
- Individual support: daily amount to support expenses related to accommodation, food, local transport, travel insurance, telecommunications, among others
- Contribution to travel costs: The value of the "bandwidth", calculated using the European Commission's calculator, applies.
The grant will be paid via bank transfer, after submitting a complete application and after signing the Erasmus+ financial contract.
APPLICATION PROCESS
To apply, Faculty must:
- Complete the Application Form;
- Receive an invitation from the host institution indicating the expected dates for carrying out the mobility and the total number of hours to be taught (in the case of teaching assignments). The following Staff Mobility for Teaching Invitation Letter can be used;
- Formally agree, with the host institution, the Staff Mobility for Teaching_MOBILITY AGREEMENT (must be signed by the participant, CMS and the Host Institution);
Faculty must contact the host institution directly to determine the possibility of carrying out mobility for a teaching mission and obtain the necessary signatures for the documents.
The indicated documents must be sent to medicina.fm@ucp.pt, at least 1 month in advance of the start of mobility.
Before mobility period
If mobility is approved, it will be up to the teacher to establish contacts with the host institution, in order to determine the dates and content of their training. This negotiation is formalized by completing and signing the Staff Mobility for Teaching_MOBILITY AGREEMENT.
This document must be delivered before mobility begins, as it is an integral part of the ERASMUS+ Contract.
It should look like this:
- Complete, sign and return the Staff Mobility for Teaching_MOBILITY AGREEMENT, which was attached to the email confirming your selection and must also send, if you have not done so in the application, the acceptance letter/email from the host institution.
- Upon receipt of the Staff Mobility for Teaching_MOBILITY AGREEMENT, the Erasmus+ Contract will be drawn up and sent to the teacher for signature.
Faculty must send an email to medicina.fm@ucp.pt , with the following documents:
- Proof of the European Health Insurance Card or other health insurance valid in the host country and for the mobility period.
- Proof of travel reservation.
After mobility period
- The following documentation must be submitted, within a maximum period of 15 days:
- Declaration of stay, proving the dates of mobility and the number of hours taught, duly signed, on the date of departure, from the host institution; The following Staff Mobility for Teaching Confirmation of Stay template can be used
- Copy of invoice and travel receipt;
- Boarding passes;
The teacher must also submit the Erasmus Final Report online, which will be sent to him/her by email.
Failure to deliver the documents will result in the full refund of the grant.
