This year the motto for World Sleep Day is "Sleep well, live better," which applies to all ages and stages of a woman's life, especially during pregnancy.

In the week we celebrate International Women's Day (March 8th) and World Sleep Day (March 13th), it's worth discussing sleep during a phase unique to women: pregnancy. This year's motto for World Sleep Day is "Sleep well, live better," which applies to all ages and stages of a woman's life, especially during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a very special phase, characterized by significant anatomical, physiological, hormonal, and psychosocial changes in women. Because of all these changes, it is often associated with poorer sleep quality, either because disorders that didn't exist before have arisen or because existing sleep pathologies have worsened, such as insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, or restless legs syndrome. Sleep disorders in pregnant women don't "just" cause poorer sleep quality; they also have a negative impact on the health of both mother and fetus.
