Dr Joana Teixeira has completed her PhD at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon with a dissertation entitled “Influence of cognitive changes on the treatment of alcohol dependence”. Her research examined how cognitive impairments may affect the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions in the treatment of alcohol dependence.

The study provided relevant evidence to support the personalization of therapeutic strategies, strengthening the integration of clinical research and clinical practice in mental health.

At Católica Medical School, Dr Teixeira has been collaborating as a guest lecturer in the course Drugs and Drug Use, contributing to the education of future healthcare professionals by sharing her clinical and scientific expertise.
