The Hospital de Vila Franca de Xira (HVFX), E.P.E., inaugurated in April 2013, aims to be a reference hospital in healthcare provision, with differentiated specialties, focusing on the development of efficient and innovative services.

The HVFX provides healthcare to around 250,000 inhabitants of the municipalities of Alenquer, Arruda dos Vinhos, Azambuja, Benavente and Vila Franca de Xira.

Accredited since 2014 by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the most prestigious accrediting organization in the health area worldwide, the HVFX is also certified by the certifying entity SGS in Quality Management, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety.

Currently, the HVFX has a training capability, granted by the Portuguese Medical Association (Ordem dos Médicos), in several medical specialties, recognizing the clinical quality and training capacity of this hospital unit. Every year the Hospital has interns in general training and specific training.

The cooperation with university institutions, training and research have been a constant bet of the HVFX, with the aim of encouraging the permanent updating and innovation of professionals and the scientific and medical community.
