Honored with the prestigious Early Investigator Award 2025 by the Endocrine Society — one of the world's leading endocrinology scientific societies — Pedro Marques is part of the new generation of endocrinologists and researchers in Portugal. An endocrinologist, professor at the Católica Medical School, and a researcher dedicated to the study of pituitary tumors, he has gained international recognition for his innovative contributions to the tumor microenvironment of pituitary adenomas.

X-ray (X-ray): What does the distinction with the Early Investigator Award 2025 from the Endocrine Society mean to you, on a personal and professional level?

Pedro Marques (PM) : Receiving this award is very significant for me professionally, as it represents the culmination of recognition and validation of my work and the research projects I've developed over the past few years in the area of the tumor microenvironment of pituitary adenomas. It's a competitive award from the American Endocrine Society, which I was deeply honored to receive, lending credibility and visibility to my projects and my research field at the highest level. It also encourages me to continue dedicating my career to the pituitary gland and neuroendocrinology.
