Joana is a visiting lecturer at London South Bank University, where she also conducts research in cancer biology. Joana obtained her PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from Universidade Nova de Lisboa / Imperial College London. She then joined the Laboratory for Molecular and Cell Biology at University College London, first as a research assistant and later as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2017, she was awarded a junior fellowship to continue her postdoctoral research investigating the mechanisms of transcriptional regulation of oncogenes in leukemia at the Cancer Institute (University College London).
